FIREFIGHTERS ARE
ALSO WORKING TO
PROTECT ANIMALS IN
SONOMA COUNTY. HERE THEY ARE
WORKING TO PROTECT
ANIMALS AT THE SAFARI
WEST WILD ANIMAL
PRESERVE. TWO YEARS AGO IT
WAS UNDER THREAT
FROM THE TUBBS FIRE. SOME OF THE
PRESERVE HAS ALREADY
BEEN SCORCHED. RIGHT NOW THE
OWNER SAYS IT IS
IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE
ANIMALS. S/PETER LANG / SAFARI WEST
FOUNDER:09 “HOW DO YOU
EVACUATE 15 GIRAFFES, THREE
RHINOS, TEN BUFFALO. IT’S MY RESPONSIBILITY. I PUT
THEM
HERE AND I’VE GOTTA SEE THROUGH.”
THE OWNER HAS HIS
OWN FIRE TRUCKS AND
HAS PLACED HOSES ALL
OVER THE CAMP TO KEEP
THE ANIMALS SAFE. ###
