S. Korea calls on Canada to lift safeguard measure on steel

South Korea has called on Canada to stop
a safeguard measures which temporarily put a quote on Korea’s steel exports and
a public hearing at the Canadian international trade tribunal in Ottawa
on Thursday local time Korea’s trade ministry expressed concerns over
Canada’s provisional safeguard measures on some foreign steel now those measures
went into effect last October in the face of u.s. metal levees the Korean
government’s claims that the provisional measures which run through May of this
year hurt free trade and do not meet a criteria set by the World Trade
Organization in 2018 South Korea shipped 620 thousand tons of steel to Canada
accounting for 2 percent of the Korea’s total steel exports
