What precautions do I need to take after I’ve had a hip replacement? – John Randolph Medical Center

The precautions that you need
to take after a hip replacement would more than likely
have to do with where you– where you are. You’re making sure that you have
whatever assisted ambulation you need. Early on, we use a walker. Then we go to a cane. It’s important to make sure
that in your household, you don’t have things like
throw rugs or extension cords or things that you might
get tripped up on– paying attention to getting down
steps early on, a lot of things we should do just in life. But mainly the
thing that’s going to injure the hip more
than anything is a fall.
